
Home Runs Carry Lexington over Hagerstown in 9-2 Victory

WHITAKER BANK BALLPARK (Lexington, KY) - Trailing 2-1 in the series facing the Hagerstown Suns, the Lexington Legends took game four with a 9-2 victory. Nolan Watson (1-1) earned the win for the Legends, tossing 5.0 innings allowing one run (unearned) on four hits while striking out five and walking one. Alex Troop (1-2) was given the loss for the Suns, pitching 4.0 innings allowing five runs (four earned) on seven hits while walking three and striking out seven.
The Suns plated their first run of the ballgame in the second inning. Anderson Franco reached on a fielding error by Lexington's second baseman, Matt Morales. Franco advanced to second on a single to right field by Yasel Antuna, then scored on an RBI single to right field by Kameron Esthay and the Suns led 1-0.
In the bottom of the second, the Legends were able to also capitalize on an error. With two outs, Jeison Guzman reached on a single up the middle, but advanced to second on a throwing error by Hagerstown's second baseman, Cole Freeman. Guzman scored on the second error in the inning, this time by the third baseman, Luis Garcia and the game was tied at one.
The Legends took the lead in the fourth inning. Jeison Guzman reached on a leadoff single to right field. Sebastian Rivero then blasted his first home run of the season, a two-run homer to left field, and the Legends led 3-1. Morales then walked and moved to third on a double by Cal Jones. Travis Jones grounded out to the shortstop, but Morales scored on the play. Seuly Matias brought in Cal Jones and the Legends led 5-1.
Lexington continued scoring in the eighth. With one out, Guzman and Rivero reached on back-to-back singles. Cal Jones then stepped up and tattooed his first home run of the season over the left field wall, a three run bomb and the Legends extended their lead, 8-1. Travis Jones then lined a single into right field and scored on an RBI double by Nick Pratto, and the Legends led 9-1 heading into the ninth.
In the top of the ninth, Aldrem Corredor reached on a leadoff single, then advanced to third on a double by Armond Upshaw. Freeman brought in Corredor, to make it 9-2, but the Suns were unable to plate anymore runs.
The Legends next face the Asheville Tourists in Asheville, North Carolina beginning April 23 at 7:05 p.m. The Tourists will send LHP Nick Kennedy (0-1, 5.73 ERA) to the mound and the Legends are TBA.
