NICK SMITH RECALLED BY FLORIDA PANTHERS

SAINT JOHN, NB - The Saint John Flames announced today that 22-year-old centre Nick Smith has been recalled by the Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League.

Smith, a 6'2", 196 lb native of Hamilton, Ontario was loaned to Saint John by Florida on December 21, 2001. In 41 contests with the Flames this season, Smith recorded 17 points (8 goals, 9 assists) and 10 penalty minutes.

Smith, who made his NHL debut on December 1 versus Atlanta, has played in three scoreless games with the Panthers and in 63 American Hockey League games this season with Bridgeport and Saint John, totaling 26 points (11 goals, 15 assists).

The Flames host the Manchester Monarchs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and the Quebec Citadelles at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
