Westcott Recalled - Nolan Signed To A P.T.O.

Syracuse, NY (March, 20, 2002) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have recalled defenseman Duvie Westcott. The Crunch also announced that they signed defenseman Doug Nolan to a professional tryout contract.

Westcott, 24, has appeared in 62 games with Syracuse this season, registering four goals and 29 assists. He is sixth on the team with 33 points and second among AHL Rookies with 29 assists. A native of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Westcott was signed as a free agent by Columbus on May 7, 2001.

Nolan, 26, has played in 53 games with Dayton (ECHL) this season, recording five goals, four assists, and 158 penalty minutes. In seven games with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (AHL) earlier this year, Nolan recorded one assist. A native of Quincy, Massachusetts, Nolan was selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 11th round, 282 overall in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft.

Syracuse returns to action tonight against the Cleveland Barons at the Gund Arena for a 7:05 p.m. face-off. Crunch action can be heard on SportsRadio WHEN 620 with play-by-play announcer Bob McElligott. The Crunch return to the War Memorial Friday to take on the Hamilton Bulldogs.
