Drake Britton his 6th win, Peter Hissey 3-for-5 with a homer
(Portland, Maine) - Drake Britton (6-5) improved to 3-0 and the Portland Sea Dogs' (35-32) offense collected 10 hits, defeating the Akron Aeros (34-34) 7-4 on Sunday afternoon at Hadlock Field in front of 6,735 fans.
Britton had a scoreless streak of 22.2 innings pitched snapped in the fifth inning on a two-out RBI single by Jose Ramirez. The lefty worked seven innings, allowing five hits, two runs (one earned), three walks and one strikeout. Britton has won all three starts this month, allowing just two earned runs over his last 32 IP (0.56 ERA).
Peter Hissey finished 3-for-5 with his second Double-A homer, a booming shot over the center-field wall in the fifth. Will Roberts (4-4) suffered the loss for Akron and endured both losses in the season series to Portland. Roberts tossed 4.2 innings on eight hits, five runs and six strikeouts.
The Sea Dogs scored right away, receiving a two-run double by Michael Almanzar in the first inning. Almanzar is the team leader in RBI with 47.
Portland scored five runs during innings 4-6 against Roberts and Trey Haley. In the fourth, Kolbrin Vitek nailed a run-scoring single and scored on Heiker Meneses' fielder's choice. Hissey blasted a solo-homer in the fifth and delivered an RBI single in the sixth. Portland scored their last run on a wild pitch.
Britton had his scoreless snapped in the fifth inning on Ramirez's run-scoring single. The scoreless streak of 22.2 IP is the second best streak in franchise history behind Kris Johnson's 24 (2008).
Akron added a run off Britton in the seventh on a bases-loaded double play. Miguel Celestino worked the final two frames, allowing a two-run triple to Carlos Moncrief.
Portland finished the homestand 3-4 and improved to 20-19 at Hadlock Field.

The Sea Dogs are off on Monday and open up a 7-game, six-day trip on Tuesday night in Reading with a doubleheader. Matt Barnes (3-3, 5.87) and Charlie Haeger (2-3, 4.44) get the starts for Portland in the twinbill.
