Hawaiian Islanders News Release

HONOLULU – The offices of arenafootball2 announced today that Hawaiian Islander wide receiver/linebacker Nian Taylor was selected the af2's National Ironman of the Week.

The Iron Man Award is a national recognition award given after every week to the best player playing both offense and defense.

Taylor caught four passes for 77 yards and three touchdowns in a 61-55 win over Wichita last Friday. His final 42-yard catch in the fourth quarter gave Hawaii a comfortable lead in which the Stealth never threatened. Defensively, Taylor had six solos and four assists and a fumble recovery.

For the season, Taylor has 32 receptions for 482 yards and 10 touchdowns. He is one touchdown short of the Hawaiian Islander record of 11 touchdowns, which he set last year.

This is Taylor's third Ironman of the Week award in his career. He won the honor in consecutive weeks (July 16 and 23, 2002) last season.
