Niagara IceDogs News Release

The Niagara IceDogs fell to the Hamilton Bulldogs in their Sunday evening matchup by a score of 5-2.

The IceDogs travelled home to finish off the weekend with their third game in three nights, and were looking to finish off strong. They started the first period generating numerous chances against the Bulldogs but were unable to find the back of the net, as Hamilton's net minder stood tall. Hamilton managed to squeak two goals by the Dogs' and they found themselves with a 2-0 lead after the first, despite being outshot 15-10 by Niagara.

The second period saw the Dogs' dominate once again, doing whatever they could to find the back of the net, but they would still trail by two goals after two periods. Stephen Harper got the Dogs' on the board, netting his first home goal as an IceDog, after finishing off a pretty passing play with Ho-Sang and Jenys. The Bulldogs would go on and tally once again in the second half of the frame to regain their two goal advantage. The IceDogs once again dominated the shot clock in the period, by a count of 15-7.

The IceDogs once again continued their strong play in the third period, giving Hamilton everything they had, and controlling the play in the opposing zone. Tyler Boston scored a quick snapshot to bring the Dogs' back within one goal and on the verge of tying things up, until the Bulldogs potted a late goal to take back their two goal lead. The IceDogs just were not able to solve Connor Hicks in the Hamilton crease, despite outshooting the opposition 19-4 in the final frame and showing great perseverance and effort. Hamilton would finish it off with an empty net goal in the final minute to secure the 5-2 victory. Pavel Jenys was named the games' second star, finishing with an assist and six shots on goal. The IceDogs will now get some much needed rest before they take on the London Knights on Thursday at 7:00 PM. Limited tickets are available and can be purchased at all IceDogs ticketing locations.
