
NHL Veteran Ray Sheppard Named Special Assistant to the Head Coach

Orlando, FL - The Orlando Solar Bears announced today that former NHL player Ray Sheppard has joined the team as a Special Assistant to Head Coach Drake Berehowsky.
Sheppard posts an impressive resume as a player, appearing in 817 games at the NHL level throughout his 14 year professional career. The Petawawa, Ontario, native was selected in the third round, #60 overall, by the Buffalo Sabres in the 1984 NHL Entry Draft. In his rookie year with Buffalo in 1987-88, Sheppard scored 38 goals and added 27 assists for 65 points in 74 games. He was rewarded for his efforts with a selection to the NHL All-Rookie Team that season.
During his NHL tenure, Sheppard dressed for the Buffalo Sabres, New York Rangers, Detroit Red Wings, San Jose Sharks, Florida Panthers, and Carolina Hurricanes. In 817 games, Sheppard collected 357 goals and 300 assists for 657 points. In 1993-94 as a member of the Red Wings, the 6'1", 194 pound right winger notched 52 goals and 41 assists for 93 points.
