Elmira Jackals News Release
ELMIRA, N.Y. - October 1, 2012 - The Elmira Jackals announced today four changes to their training camp roster. Forwards Rob Bellamy and Chris Campanale were added to the roster while defenseman Kyle Bushee and forward Dustin Gazley were removed.
Bushee and Gazley have been called up to American Hockey League training camps. Bushee is currently skating with the Grand Rapids Griffins while Gazley has joined the Binghamton Senators. Bushee, a veteran of four ECHL seasons, signed with Elmira over the summer after playing the last two seasons with the Wheeling Nailers. He has 91 points (21G, 70A) and 178 penalty minutes in 273 ECHL games. Gazley, the reigning ECHL Rookie of the Year and scoring champion, re-signed with Elmira after helping lead the Jackals to a club-record 45 wins and the Eastern Conference regular season title in 2011-12.
Bellamy has re-signed with the Jackals giving them a total of 13 returnees from their record-setting campaign last year. Last season was his first in the ECHL and he netted 24 points (11G, 13A) and 47 penalty minutes in 63 games. The majority of Bellamy's pro experience has been in the AHL with the Philadelphia/Adirondack Phantoms. A former third round draft pick (#92 overall) by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, Bellamy has played 114 games at the AHL level.
Campanale is heading into his third season of professional hockey out of American International College. He broke into the pros with the Central Hockey League's Evansville IceMen in 2010-11 and notched 11 points (6G, 5A) in 53 games. He split last season between the Southern Professional Hockey League and the Federal Hockey League. Chris is the older brother of Jackals defenseman Matt Campanale.
