Adirondack Frostbite News Release

ROANOKE, VA - Mark Hurtubise, signed by the Frostbite earlier on Friday, scored the game-winning goal and added two assists, while Lyon Porter collected two goals and an assist, as Adirondack defeated the Roanoke Valley Vipers 4-2 in front of 1,326 fans at the Roanoke Civic Center.

Adirondack took a 2-0 lead into the locker room after one period. Porter got the scoring started at the 7:19 mark. David Ambler had the puck behind the Vipers' net, and he fed Porter who was wide open in front, and he was able to beat Jamie Hodson with a quick wrist shot for his fifth goal of the season, and extending his goal-scoring streak to three games.

The Frostbite added to the lead at 14:25. Pierre-Luc Leblond was able to gather in a bouncing puck in front of the Vipers' net, and was able to beat Hodson with a quick shot for his first professional goal.

Roanoke tied the game with a pair of goals of its own in the second period. The Vipers pulled within one at 9:10 as Josh Tataryn was able to skate across the Frostbite blue line and from the top of the right-wing circle wristed a shot over the glove of Derek Gustafson for his third goal of the season.

The Vipers picked up the tying goal at the 16:45 mark. Bob Rapoza's clearing pass was intercepted by Steve Crusco in the right-wing circle, and his quick wrist shot eluded the glove of Gustafson for an unassisted goal, his third tally of the season.

Hurtubise picked up his third point of the night, and his first pro goal, at 12:24 of the third to put the Frostbite back on top. His initial shot was stopped by Hodson, but the rebound settled right on Hurtubise's stick on the far post and he was able to flip a shot over Hodson's outstretched glove.

Porter completed his three-point night with an empty-net goal with 4.4 seconds left. Sylvain Cloutier and Hugo Belanger picked up the assists.

The Frostbite penalty kill had another good night, killing off all eight Vipers' power plays.

Derek Gustafson, playing for the first time in two weeks, picked up his third win of the season, turning aside 34 shots, including all 10 he faced in the final period.

The Frostbite and Vipers meet once again on Saturday, with face-off slated for 7:30 p.m. at the Roanoke Civic Center. Catch all of the action with the Voice of the Frostbite, Joe Babik, on WCKM 98.5. Coverage begins with the pre-game show at 7:10 p.m.
