New York Red Bulls News Release
HARRISON, N.J. - The New York Red Bulls have signed NYRBII goalkeeper A.J. Marcucci to an MLS contract, the club announced today. Marcucci is signed through the end of this season with three option years.
"It is a pleasure adding A.J. to our first team roster," Head of Sport Kevin Thelwell said. "A.J. has worked extremely hard to where he has got to in his career, beginning at the NCAA Division III level, and we hope to see him continue to grow at the next level."
Marcucci, 22, has split goalkeeping duties at the USL Championship level with Luca Lewis during the 2021 campaign. He has tallied a team-high 26 saves in starts.
"We are happy to have A.J. join our first team goalkeeper group," said Head Coach Gerhard Struber. "A.J. has progressed well with Red Bulls II and hopefully this next step in his career will push him to new heights."
Marcucci was a three-year starter at Connecticut College. He appeared in 54 matches and only allowed 27 goals. The West Chester, Pennsylvania native holds the school record for 25 clean sheets throughout his career. He was named to the NCAA All-America First Team both by United Soccer Coaches and D3soccer.com. Marcucci was named 2017 NESCAC Rookie of the Year and 2018 NESCAC Player of the Year.
