
New York Red Bulls Sign Anthony Wallace

HARRISON, N.J. (March 27, 2015) - The New York Red Bulls have signed defender Anthony Wallace and he will be with the club for Saturday's match at Columbus. Wallace has been on trial with New York since the start of the second preseason camp in Sarasota.
Per MLS policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"We are excited to add Anthony to our club," Red Bulls sporting director Ali Curtis said. "Anthony has experience in MLS and performed well in preseason camp with the team. His style of play and the type of person he is fits what we are looking to establish with our organization."

Wallace Bio:
2014: Spent 2014 season with the NASL's Tampa Bay Rowdies, near his hometown of St. Petersburg, Florida. Appeared in 25 league games at left back and scored one goal.
2010-13: Traded to Colorado in 2010, where he was the starting left back on the MLS Cup championship team and played with the Rapids through the 2013 season ... Made seven starts down the stretch in 2010, posting one assist, and started all four playoff games, including the 2010 MLS Cup final ... Selected by the Portland Timbers in the 2010 MLS Expansion Draft but was traded back to the Rapids in exchange for allocation money ... Set a career high with 10 regular-season appearances, 8 starts and 719 minutes in 2011, notching one assist, but was sidelined for the second half of the season with a knee injury ... Did not make an MLS appearance in 2012 due to a torn Achilles tendon and was limited to six substitute appearances as a midfielder in 2013.
2007-10: Began his professional career with FC Dallas after being selected with the No. 9 pick in the 2007 MLS SuperDraft as a Generation adidas player ... Missed significant time with FC Dallas while playing for youth national teams but made 11 starts for Dallas in three-and-a-half seasons ... Made MLS debut on Sept. 15, 2007, at New England ... Traded to Colorado on July 30, 2010 ... Made 22 appearances for FC Dallas in Reserve League play in 2007-08 ... Participated in Generation adidas offseason trips in 2008 (England) and 2009 (South Africa).
International: United States international (1 cap) ... Made senior national-team debut on Jan. 22, 2011, playing 17 minutes as a substitute against Chile ... One of the most experienced youth internationals in US history, playing with the US U-17 national team from 2004-06 and the US U-20 national team from 2006-09 ... Wallace was named to the roster for both the 2007 and 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cups, and he started four of five games as the US reached the quarterfinals in 2007 ... He missed the 2009 tournament due to injury.
College: Played one season at the University of South Florida in 2006, starting all 19 games as a defensive midfielder and registering one assist.
Personal: Born in Brooklyn, New York, Wallace's family moved to St. Petersburg, Florida, when he was 2 years old ... Both parents, Anthony and Audrey, were born in Jamaica, and Wallace has an older sister, Amanda ... Usually known to his teammates as "Wally" ... Started playing organized soccer at age 4 ...
