New York Liberty News Release
The Liberty (1-12) fell to the Sun (6-8) 82-65 on Saturday night.
New York shot 37.0% from the field and 27.6% from beyond the arc.
The Liberty had 35 rebounds, 19 assists and 15 bench points.
New York shot 89.5% from the free throw line. Key Runs: Connecticut opened the first quarter on a 10-0 run led entirely by Alyssa Thomas. The Sun outscored New York, 24-16 in the first quarter.
New York went on a 11-6 run midway through the second quarter to cut Connecticut's lead to as little as three points. The Liberty outscored the Sun 22-21 in the second quarter, going into the locker room down 7 points.
The Sun got out to a 12-7 run with 4:48 remaining in the third quarter. Going into the final frame, New York trailed by 17.
New York and Connecticut tied in the final frame with 16 points apiece.

PLAYER NOTABLES #SayHerName: It has been 162 days since Breonna Taylor was shot and killed in her own apartment. The officers responsible for her death (Jonathan Mattingly, Brett Hankinson, and Myles Cosgrove) have not been arrested.
Kia Nurse recorded a team-high 17 points with 4 assists and 3 rebounds.
Layshia Clarendon added 12 points on 40.0% (2-5) shooting from beyond the arc.
Rookie guard Jazmine Jones had her 6th consecutive game scoring in double figures. Jones finished with 11 points on 50.0% shooting from the field, as well as 5 assists and 4 rebounds.
Kiah Stokes led the Liberty's first quarter scoring with 6 points, connecting on 2 of 4 shots from beyond the arc. Stokes finished the game with 10 points on 50.0% shooting, her second consecutive game in double digit scoring.
Amanda Zahui B totaled 6 points including 10 rebounds, and tied her career-high 5 assists. Her other 5-assist night came against the Sun last season on August 4.
Leaonna Odom added 5 points and 5 rebounds.
Alyssa Thomas led the Sun offense with a game-high 25 points, while Jasmine Thomas added 16 points.
DeWanna Bonner posted a double-double of 14 points and 12 boards to go along with 6 assists.
