New York City Football Club Announces Details for Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League Semifinals
March 18, 2022 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
New York City FC News Release
New York, N.Y. - New York City Football Club (NYCFC) can confirm the dates, times and venues for the Club's upcoming Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League (SCCL) Semifinals tie against Seattle Sounders. NYCFC has progressed to the SCCL Semifinals for the first time in Club history after defeating Guatemalan club Comunicaciones FC in the Quarterfinals.
After securing the top seed, NYCFC will host the second leg. The away leg will be on April 6 at 10:00pm ET at Lumen Field in Seattle, WA, and the home leg will take place on April 13 at 9:00pm ET at Red Bull Arena.
As is normal at this stage of the tournament, NYCFC and MLS have rescheduled the Club's home regular season MLS match against D.C. United to allow better preparation for the prestigious SCCL Semifinals. Initially scheduled to take place on April 9 at Citi Field, this match has been rescheduled for August 31 at Red Bull Arena. August 31 was the only date that worked for both team schedules, and Red Bull Arena was the only available venue.
Brad Sims, NYCFC CEO, added: "This is a hugely exciting moment and major milestone for us as a Club as we take a historic step advancing to our first-ever Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League Semifinals. Despite a backdrop of challenges, our Boys in Blue persevered and found a way to advance.
"We are 100% focused on and determined to be the first MLS team to win this tournament and create another proud moment in our Club's history. We want to bring home even more silverware to our fans and represent MLS at the Club World Cup.
"We know that many of our fans have come out to support the team at Red Bull Arena in the past, and we also understand those who have not for obvious reasons. But Tuesday night in Guatemala reminded us all what a massive impact fans can have on the outcome of a game. Now it's our turn to have the advantage at one of the most important matches in our Club's history."
Tickets for NYCFC's home leg of the SCCL Semifinals will be available for general fans starting at 12pm on Tuesday, March 22.
Both home and away legs of NYCFC's SCCL Semifinals will be broadcasted on FS2 and TUDN.
