Atlanta holds a 5-2-2 all-time record against Montreal: 4-0-0 at home and 1-2-2 on the road in the series. This is the first of two meetings between the teams in 2022, as Atlanta travels to Montreal on April 30 (4 p.m. ET, Bally Sports Southeast).
Atlanta is coming off its second home win of the season after defeating Charlotte FC 2-1 on March 13. Josef Martínez scored his first goal of the season from the penalty spot and Jake Mulraney came off the bench to score his first game-winning goal for the club in the 96th minute. Marcelino Moreno recorded his second assist of the season and Thiago Almada made his club debut.
With his goal against Charlotte, Martínez has scored against 25 MLS teams in his career, which ties Chris Wondolowski for most in league history. The only two clubs he has yet to score against are Austin FC and Nashville SC.
Montreal will be looking for its first MLS win of 2022 after dropping its first three matches against Orlando City SC, Philadelphia Union and New York City FC while also competing in Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League. Montreal was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the competition on Wednesday after falling 2-1 to Cruz Azul over two legs. The teams played to a 1-1 draw at Stade Olympique in the second leg.
