New Orleans VooDoo News Release

The New Orleans VooDoo signed WR/LB Tory Woodbury to the active roster, it was announced by the team today.

Woodbury competed with J.T. O'Sullivan for the third quarterback spot with the New Orleans Saints in 2003 training camp. Woodbury also played wide receiver and worked at safety with the Saints during camp.

To make room for Woodbury on the roster, the VooDoo waived OL/DL Gaylon Hyder.

Woodbury (6-2, 208, Winston Salem State), comes to New Orleans after spending the 2004 offseason with the Denver Broncos. One of the final roster cuts of Saints training camp in 2003, Woodbury completed 7-of-20 passes for 80 yards with one touchdown pass and one interception, while rushing five times for 20 yards. Woodbury also recorded three solo tackles on defense.

Woodbury spent the 2001 and 2002 seasons with the New York Jets after being by the team in 2001 as an undrafted free agent. In 2002, after spending the first three games of the season as the team's third quarterback, Woodbury saw action in two games as a wide receiver and one on special teams, catching one pass for 13 yards. In 2001, after spending the first six games of the season on New York's practice squad, Woodbury appeared in 10 games and finished the season with six special teams tackles and a fumble recovery.

The VooDoo will host Southern Division rival Orlando on Sunday at 2 pm at the New Orleans Arena. The game will be broadcast live on NBC (WDSU-6 in New Orleans) and can be heard on WSMB 1350-AM.
