May 4, 2004 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Los Angeles Avengers News Release
LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Avengers will host their Third Annual Charity Golf Tournament, benefiting the Malibu Foundation for Youth and Families, on Monday, May 24, at the MountainGate Country Club.
The tournament will feature a shotgun start to 18 holes of golf, a celebrity awards dinner and live auction.
The Malibu Foundation for Youth and Families was founded in 1999 in response to issues raised by the Columbine High School tragedy. The Foundation established a professionally run, community-supported teen center within a year of its inception and has since become a model for similar programs across the country.
The Los Angeles Avengers partner with the Foundation to raise the financial support needed to bring this nationally recognized program to locations throughout Southern California.
Foursomes start at $2,000, which includes four tournament spots, lunches and tickets to the post-tournament reception. Each foursome will be paired with an Avenger player, coach or celebrity.
Registration opens at 10 a.m., to be followed by breakfast, warm up, open driving range and a putting contest. The tournament begins at noon, followed by a cocktail reception and silent auction at 5:30 p.m. and the celebrity awards dinner and live auction at 6:30 p.m.
Registration is currently open and will continue until May 17. Additional information is available by calling (310) 407-0503 or visiting www.laavengers.com/promotions.php.
The Avengers (7-5) will face the defending ArenaBowl champion Tampa Bay Storm (6-7) on Sunday, May 9, at the St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa, Fla. Kickoff is set for noon (Pacific) and the game will be televised on KNBC Channel 4.
The next home game for the Avengers will be on Saturday, May 22, versus the Las Vegas Gladiators. That game will be held at STAPLES Center with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m. The first 5,000 fans at that game will receive a "Mark & Brian" bobblehead doll. Tickets are still available and can be purchased by calling 1-888-AVENGERS or online at www.laavengers.com.
