New Mexico United News Release
Albuquerque, NM - New Mexico United fell by score of 0-1 to El Paso Locomotive FC on Saturday night, as Denys Kostyshyn headed home in the 71st minute to earn all three points for El Paso. The match was played in front of a season-high 11,247 fans at Rio Grande Credit Union Field at Isotopes Park.
The match started brightly for United, as Santi Moar flicked a ball over a defender to Amando Moreno in the fourth minute, and Moreno struck it cleanly, past a diving Benny Diaz. But the shot was a few inches too far to the left, clattering off the post and harmlessly out of reach. Much of the rest of the match was characterized by midfield give-and-take, as neither team gained a serious foothold for the remainder of the stanza.
The second half saw more of the same, until Kostyshyn drove through the middle of the box and headed home a cross from Eder Borelli for the game's only score.
