New Mexico United News Release
Albuquerque, NM - New Mexico United today announced the departure of Head Coach/Technical Director Zach Prince.
"Zach came here in 2018 and helped build our club from scratch," said United Owner/President Peter Trevisani. "He said yes to whatever was asked of him, from camps to the United Academy, as First Assistant to Troy Lesesne, and as Head Coach/Technical Director. Zach is a living example of the mantra 'Hard work and action pay off.' He led our team to the postseason and has created a foundation upon which we will build. We will miss Zach, his wife Alex, and their two children, and we are excited for their future."
Prince joined New Mexico United in the inaugural 2019 season as First Assistant Coach, immediately putting his stamp on the club as a leader. On November 15, 2021, Prince was named the second Head Coach in club history. During his tenure, he guided the team to numerous achievements and played an instrumental role in shaping the club's identity both on and off the pitch. In his time as Head Coach/Technical Director, Prince accumulated 23 victories. Under his guidance, United reached the USL playoffs in 2022 - earning their most points, most goals scored, and highest goal differential in club history. In 2023, United made the final 32 in Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
Prince's departure comes as a testament to New Mexico United's stature on the national soccer stage. In addition to creating a winning atmosphere, the club aims to provide opportunities for growth not only to the players, but also to the coaching staff.
New Mexico United remains committed to building upon the success achieved under Prince's leadership, and is undertaking a thorough search for a permanent Head Coach to lead the club into the future.
