GOING TO THE SHOW (Former Cardinals in the Major Leagues)
RHP Matt Morris had a 3-1 record in 5 starts, in July, for the St. Louis Cardinals. RHP Danny Haren made 2 relief appearances for St. Louis last week, going 5.1 innings giving up 4 runs on 2 hits. Anaheim Angels 2B Adam Kennedy is hitting .300 (3-for-10) to begin the month of August. Cleveland Indians OF CoCo Crisp hit .400 (8-for-20) with an on-base percentage of .500 in 6 games last week. Crisp had a 5-game hit streak with 3 multi-hit performances.
BIRDS OF A FEATHER (Memphis Redbirds Class AAA Pacific Coast League)
2B Bo Hart hit .280 (7-for-25) in 6 games last week. During that stretch Hart scored 5 runs and had 3 RBI. During the current Memphis home stand, OF Dee Haynes has hit safely in 7 of 11 appearances with a batting average of .407 (11-for-27). LHP Carmen Cali appeared in 4 games last week, going 2.1 innings striking out 2 and earning a save on July 31.
MOUNTAIN MEN (Tennessee Smokies Class AA Southern League)
SS John Nelson went 2-for-3 against Mobile on July 30, it was Nelsons first appearance since June 3. OF Skip Schumaker hit safely in 5 of 7 games last week, including 4 multi-hit performances, bringing his season average to .314. RHP Josh Axelson finished 2 games last week, while throwing 4.2 innings of scoreless relief. RHP Jeremy Cook earned his 6th victory of the season on July 29, by going 6 innings and allowing 3 runs on 7 hits. RHP Josh Kinney picked up his 2nd save of the season on July 30 against Chattanooga.
FLYING HIGH (Palm Beach Cardinals Class A Florida State League)
RHP Justin Garza earned a win and 2 saves last week in 3 appearances and 3.1 innings of work. LHP Anthony Rawson extended his scoreless innings pitched streak to 12.2. Rawson has made 9 appearances and opponents are hitting just .116 (5-for-43) off of him during that stretch. RHP Josh Teekel improved his record to 8-4, with 2 wins last week. Teekel went 12 innings and struck out 14 in 2 starts.
TEEPEE TALK (Peoria Chiefs Class A Midwest League)
LHP Brantley Jordan finished 3 games last week, going 6 innings and struck out 8. LHP Scott Schweitzer made 3 appearances last week, going 2.1 innings and giving up 3 hits. RHP Jaymes Torres went 3.2 innings, with 2 strikeouts in his first 2 appearances as a Peoria Chief. 2B Jarrett Hoffpauir is in the midst of a 4 game hit streak. During the streak he is batting .400 (6-for-15), with 2 multi-hit performances. Util Joe Mather has hit safely in 17 of his last 20 games, while driving in 12 runs. SS Brendan Ryan had hits in 6 of 7 games last week while batting .333 (10-for-30) last week.
