GOING TO THE SHOW (Former Cardinals in the Major Leagues)

RHP Danny Haren was called up last week and made his 2nd appearance of the season for the St. Louis Cardinals on July 27. Haren pitched 1 inning, while striking out 2. RHP Matt Morris picked up his 11th win of the season on July 25 against the San Francisco Giants. He pitched a complete game shutout, giving up just 7 hits. Anaheim Angels 2B Adam Kennedy has raised his batting average 15 points in the month of July from .243 to .258. On July 27, Cleveland Indians OF CoCo Crisp went 3-for-5 with a HR, 5 RBI, and 2 runs scored, against the Detroit Tigers.

BIRDS OF A FEATHER (Memphis Redbirds Class AAA Pacific Coast League)

OF John Gall had a 5-game hit streak during the Redbirds most recent road trip last week, going 5-for-25 (.200) in 6 games. Those numbers give Gall a .350 (71-for-203) batting average on the road this season. Joining him with success away from the nest,were OF Dee Haynes and 2B Bo Hart, who are batting .386 (17-for-44) and .291 (43-for-148) respectively in road games so far this year. Last week, Haynes had 2 multi-hit performances, bringing his season average to .319.

MOUNTAIN MEN (Tennessee Smokies Class AA Southern League)

OF Skip Schumaker hit .296 (8-for-27) last week with 5 RBI and 2 multi hit games, bringing his season average to .311. RHP Josh Axelson finished his 4th game of the season against Mobile last week. Josh had started in a game 4 days earlier against Greenville. In that game, RHP Wilson Ciprian picked up his first win of the season, by going 3 innings and giving up 1 ER while striking out 5.

FLYING HIGH (Palm Beach Cardinals Class A Florida State League)

RHP Buddy Blair improved his record to 7-8 with a win against Vero Beach. Blair went 7 innings giving up 3 ER and striking out 5. RHP Jordan Pals was looking for his 3rd win of the season, but got no decision despite a 6 inning performance. Pals gave up just 1 ER and struck out 3 Sarasota batters. RHP Justin Garza earned his 5th save of the season on July 27 against Brevard County.

TEEPEE TALK (Peoria Chiefs Class A Midwest League)

OF Joe Mather has hit safely in each of his last 5 games. During that stretch Mather is hitting .352 (6-for-17) with 5 RBI. C Matt Pagnozzi went 4-for-4 with 2 RBI on July 19, in a game against Fort Wayne. SS Brendan Ryan has reached base in each of his last 5 games. In his last 2 games (both on the road) Ryan is 5-for-7 (.714), bringing his average to .449 (48-for107) on the road this season. RHP Cristobal Correa started 2 games last week, both resulted in no decisions. In those 2 starts, Correa went 12.1 innings giving up 5 ER on 11 hits while striking out 10. RHP Eric Drown earned his 2nd win of the season on July 23 against Quad Cities. Drown pitched 4 innings giving up 0 ER and 3 hits while striking out 5.
