
Big Ben Strikes Again

Staten Island Yankees
The Baby Bombers beat the Phillies affiliate, Batavia, 10-1, Batavia lost their second straight game to the Yanks in the 3 game series. Batavia got on the board first in the third inning on a solo home run by Greg Isaacson, which was their only run of the game. Staten Island's bats exploded in the fourth, Hector Zamora lead off with a single, and came around on a two run shot to left field by "Big" Ben Jones. The scoring didn't end their, Edwar Gonzalez reached on an error by Batavia's short stop and then advanced to second on a wild pitch. A single by second baseman Deivi Mendez brought in Gonzalez to make it 3-1. Tim Battle knocked in a single to advance Mendez, PJ Pilittere flew out to right field to advance Mendez once again.
Hot hitting Estee Harris singled, brought in Mendez and advanced Battle to third base. Justin Christian struck out to make men on second and third with two outs. Grant Plumley's single brought in both Battle, and Harris to give the Yanks an even bigger lead.Zamora came up again, and singled again to move Plumley to second. Ben Jones tripled to bring in Zamora, and Plumley and give the Yankees a 8-1 lead over Batavia.
The game remained 8-1 going into the bottom of the eighth inning, when Estee Harris lead off with a double. Justin Christian then struck out, but a single by Grant Plumley brought Harris to third. Hector Zamora hit into a fielders choice that got Plumley out at second and scoring Harris. An error by Batavia's short stop let Zamora go into second base. Ben Jones, hit a single that score Zamora and made it 10-1. Edwar Gonzalez struck out to end the inning, but the damage was done.
Yankee reliever Drew Edwards pitched the ninth inning, retiring the side with ease. Yankee first baseman Ben Jones was one hit away from the cycle, all he needed was a double. Yankee pitching struck out 5 Muckdogs between Jeffrey Marquez, David Cuen, and Drew Edwards.
