New Hampshire Takes Series Finale, 11-1

Portland, Maine - Patrick Murphy didn't allow a hit until the seventh inning and the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (14-18) ran away with an 11-1 win over the Sea Dogs (11-19) in the series finale on Thursday afternoon at Hadlock Field. Portland still won the series over New Hampshire 2-1.

Murphy (W, 1-4) was unhittable through the first six frames and had allowed just two baserunners (a walk and an error) before Brett Netzer led off the bottom of the seventh with a single to right field. Murphy went seven scoreless and allowed just the one hit while walking one and striking out seven.

New Hampshire took the lead in the third on back-to-back home runs by Nash Knight and Vinny Capra off of Tanner Houck. Later in the inning, Chad Spanberger singled with two outs to extend the lead to 3-0.

Houck (L, 3-2) went 2.2 innings and allowed three runs on five hits with a walk and three strikeouts.

The Fisher Cats blew it open with a five-run fifth inning. The 'Cats plated five runs over a six-pitch span against Daniel McGrath and sent 10 men to the plate in the frame, exiting the inning with an 8-0 lead.

New Hampshire scored three more times in the eighth on five walks and a hit batter to make it 11-0, marking a season-high for the 'Cats in runs scored.

Knight finished a triple shy of the cycle and drove in two runs. Brock Lundquist had two hits and three RBIs. Everyone in the New Hampshire lineup reached base multiple times. Portland pitchers combined to walk 10 and hit three batters.

The Sea Dogs scored their lone run in the eighth on an RBI single by Jeremy Rivera to score Marcus Wilson.

The Sea Dogs open up a three-game series in Trenton, New Jersey on Friday night from Arm & Hammer Park. LH Darwinzon Hernandez (1-1, 4.96) makes his fifth start of the year for Portland.
