FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - Just seven points out of first place in the Eastern Conference with three games in hand, the red-hot New England Revolution aims to win its third straight game when the club hosts Toronto FC in an intra-conference battle on Saturday, Aug. 1, at Gillette Stadium. The game will be televised live on TV38 beginning at 7:30 p.m., while the WEEI Radio Network will also carry the action.
The Revolution (6-5-5, 23 pts.) enters this weekend's match unbeaten in its last three league games (2-0-1) and carrying a 352-minute shutout streak, the longest active shutout streak in Major League Soccer and the second-longest such streak in club history. Toronto (7-7-5, 26 pts.), meanwhile, is winless in its last three regular-season games (0-2-1) and is scheduled to play a CONCACAF Champions League game tonight against the Puerto Rico Islanders.
Saturday night's game will conclude the regular-season series between New England and TFC, as the clubs already met at BMO Field on May 23. Toronto earned its' first-ever win over the Revolution in that match, 3-1, behind the strength of two goals from Amado Guevara.
