Fire Team up with Buch's Beans for Back to School Drive

CHICAGO, IL (July 29, 2009) - The Chicago Fire and the Chicago Fire Foundation (CFF) in conjunction with Bush's Beans present the 2009 Bush's Beans Back-to-School Drive, beginning on Saturday, August 1st at the Fire vs. Real Salt Lake game at 7:30 PM at Toyota Park. Fans are encouraged to donate new or gently used school supplies at the bin located at Gate C at Toyota Park during the following Chicago Fire home games: August 1 vs. Real Salt Lake (7:30 PM), August 19 vs. Los Angeles Galaxy (8:00 PM), August 23 vs. Colorado Rapids (5:00 PM), and August 29 vs. D.C. United (7:30 PM).

The Fire, along with Fire defender and Back-to-School Drive spokesperson, Dasan Robinson, will be collecting new or gently used school supplies during the month of August. The donated supplies will be distributed to various schools and non-profit organizations in the Chicagoland community. Fans who donate on those dates (August 1, 19, 23, and 29) will receive a $5 off coupon to use toward a ticket to an upcoming 2009 Chicago Fire regular season home game, valid only at the box office.

"This is a great opportunity for our fans to partner with the team and Bush's Beans to make sure that children throughout the Chicagoland area have all the tools they need to be successful at the outset of the school year," said CFF President Frank Klopas. "We are fortunate to have such generous fans and hope to have a great turnout of donated school supplies this year."

The following is a list of acceptable items to be donated:

§ Backpacks

§ Organizers and planners

§ 3-ring binders

§ Folders

§ Notebooks or loose-leaf paper

§ Pencils, pens and highlighters

§ Crayons, markers and colored pencils

§ Rulers, scissors and tape

§ Staplers and staples

§ Glue or glue sticks

§ Erasers

§ Paper clips
