Nets Knock Down Raptors 905

LONG ISLAND - The Long Island Nets (18-14), the NBA G League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets, defeated Raptors 905 (23-8) 114-99 on Thursday evening at Nassau Coliseum.

Six Nets scored in double figures in the victory over the Raptors, including guard Tyrone Wallace and Brooklyn two-way guard David Duke Jr., who scored 20 points each. Wallace also tallied nine rebounds and seven assists while shooting 7-of-12 from the field in 32 minutes, and Duke Jr. recorded nine rebounds and five assists in 34 minutes. While on assignment with Long Island, Brooklyn center Day'Ron Sharpe notched a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds, while shooting 7-of-14 from the field in 24 minutes. Nets guard Jordan Crawford tallied 16 points, eight rebounds and five assists in 33 minutes. Long Island forward RaiQuan Gray notched 13 points in 22 minutes, and Brandon Rachal recorded 12 points in 30 minutes.

Long Island and the 905 got off to an even start as both teams went back-and-forth during the first quarter. The Nets slipped past the Raptors to close the opening period ahead by one, 26-25. The 905 struggled to battle back in the second quarter, which resulted in the Nets going on a 14-6 run in the first seven minutes. Long Island kept its foot on the gas and went into the break ahead by 11, 58-47.

The Raptors were determined to shrink the gap in the third quarter, and their efforts paid off as the 905 outscored the Nets 32-26. Although the 905 saw success, it was not enough to turn the tides overall; Long Island kept its lead to close the third quarter up by five, 84-79. The Raptors sought redemption in the final period, but it never came. The Nets outscored the 905 30-20 in the fourth quarter as Long Island shot 50 percent (12-of-24) from the field and 57.1 percent (4-of-7) from distance in the fourth quarter to secure the win, 114-99.

Toronto two-way forward Justin Champagnie led the way for the 905 as he tallied 22 points and seven rebounds in 35 minutes. Raptors two-way guard David Johnson recorded 14 points, eight rebounds and two assists in 25 minutes. 905 guard Breein Tyree notched 14 points in 24 minutes.

The Nets will play their next game on the road against Capital City on Friday, April 1, at 7 p.m. ET, while the 905 will return home to face Greensboro on Saturday, April 2, at 2 p.m. ET.
