Amarillo Gorillas News Release
Amarillo, TX - The Amarillo Gorillas and Colorado Eagles played their fifth and final meeting of the season on Sunday night, with Colorado edging the Gorillas 3-1.
Colorado's Aaron Schneekloth scored a power-play goal at 6:47 of the first period to put the Eagles on top 1-0. Schneekloth's goal would be all the scoring seen in the game until the third period.
Goalies Dan McWhinney and Marco Emond both stood strong in net, turning aside everything they saw in the second period.
Chris Lipsett scored at 5:34 of the third period bringing the game to a 1-1 tie. At that point, Colorado's Riley Nelson would take over, scoring a shorthanded goal at 9:03 and an insurance goal at 11:25 to put the Eagles up 3-1, the eventual final score.
Amarillo fell to 3-12-3 and will hit the road next weekend to take on Oklahoma City on Friday night and Texas on Saturday Night.
