The Bucks also lost a third period lead last night in falling to Corpus Christi 3-2. Laredo, who outshot Corpus 41-20, held a slim 1-0 lead heading into the final 20 minutes when the Rayz scored three times-one shorthanded- to snap the Bucks four game losing streak. Rookie Brent MacSween scored in the second period for the Bucks, with Igor Agarunov bringing Laredo to within a goal at 3-2 with 22 second left. Dustin Traylen suffered the loss in net stopping 17 of 20 Rayz shots.
With the loss for Traylen, rookie Kevin Beech is scheduled to get the start today in net for the Bucks. Beech has not seen significant time in net since November 17th in Colorado (Beech played the final nine seconds last Saturday against New Mexico). Beech is 5-0 this season, with a 1.72 goals against average, and a .923 save percentage.
Today's matchup will feature five of the CHL's top-10 scorers. With Laredo's Jeff Bes leading the way with 35 points (14-21=35), Odessa's Dominic Leveille is third with 32 points (14-18=32), Sebastian Thinel is fifth with 31 points(15-16=31), Nathan Ward is sixth with 30 (8-22=30), while the Bucks Chris Korchinski is ninth (9-15=24).
Odessa is coming off of a 6-0 win at home against Mississippi last night, with Leveille netting two goals and handing out an assist, while John Osborne scored two goals for the 'Jacks. After the game Odessa made the long seven-and-a-half hour trek to Laredo for today's game.
After today's game the Bucks will play the next two away from home, before returning home next Sunday.
