Neil Conway Named Academic Player of the Month

The Owen Sound Attack is proud to announce that goaltender Neil Conway has been named the OHL Academic Player of the Month for February for the Midwest Division. Conway, 18, is a native of Concorde, Ohio and is a grade 12 student at West Hill Secondary School in Owen Sound. In the first semester Conway took 4 courses at West Hill with an additional 3 courses by correspondence with better than a 90 percent average. This achievement won Neil the second Clarica Education Award for the 2005-2006 season for the Attack on February 11, 2006. This is the inaugural year for Clarica to sponsor this award for scholastic excellence. Neil Conway was the 2004-2005 Owen Sound Attack Scholastic Player of the Year and the team's nomination for the OHL Award as well.

West Division - The OHL Academic Player of the Month for February in the West Division is centreman Mickey Renaud of the Windsor Spitfires Hockey Club. Renaud, 17, a native of Tecumseh, Ontario, is a Grade 12 student at St. Anne's High School in Windsor.

Central Division - The OHL Academic Player of the Month for February in the Central Division is left winger Adam Zamec of the Toronto St. Michael's Majors Hockey Club. Zamec, 16, a second round selection of the Toronto St. Michael's Majors in the 2005 OHL Priority Selection is a Grade 11 student at Central Technical School in Toronto.

East Division - The OHL Academic Player of the Month for February in the East Division is defenseman Burke MacDonald of the Peterborough Petes Hockey Club. MacDonald, 18, a native of Summerstown, Ontario, is a Grade 12 student a Thomas A. Stewart Secondary School in Peterborough.

Each month, the OHL recognizes a player from each Division who is striving to reach his full potential in his educational program while playing in the Ontario Hockey League.

More than 97% of the players currently playing in the Ontario Hockey League are attending high school or post-secondary institutions. For the 2005-06 playing season, 239 OHL graduates are currently attending Canadian universities on scholarships from their OHL teams.
