
Naturals Use Big Sixth Inning to Get by Tulsa

Tulsa, OK - The Naturals used a big sixth inning to defeat the Drillers 3-0 Sunday night. The win is the 80th victory of the season fro the Naturals.
The game was deadlocked at zero until the bottom of the fifth when Tulsa (35-27, 65-66) broke the tie. Jason Van Kooten led the inning off with a double to left field. Scott Beerer later brought Van Kooten home with a base hit to center. The run gave Tulsa the 1-0 lead.
Down 1-0, the Naturals (38-24, 80-52) rallied in the sixth inning. Derrick Robinson and Johnny Giavotella got the inning going with back-to-back singles. Eric Hosmer then reached on a bunt single, which loaded the bases. Josh Fields then sent a base hit into left field, and both Robinson and Giavoetlla came into score. Clint Robinson made it five consecutive base hits, as he singled to right field, and brought home Hosmer. The made it a 3-1 game in favor of the Naturals.
The Naturals only needed the three runs as they kept Tulsa off the scoreboard for the remainder of the game.
Blake Johnson (4-3) was terrific on the mound for the Naturals, and he picked up the victory. Johnson pitched seven innings, gave up one earned run on four hits, and struck out six. Patrick Keating closed out the final two innings without giving up a run for his 10th save of the season.
Brandon Durden (5-11) suffered the loss for Tulsa. Durden pitched seven innings, gave up three earned runs on seven hits, and struck out two.
The series between these two teams closes out Monday night. It is the final road game of the regular season for the Naturals. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m., and you can listen live on ESPN 92.1 The Ticket and online at 921theticket.com.
