Naturals Open up Gates for Donations
May 23, 2011 - Texas League (TL1)
Northwest Arkansas Naturals News Release
SPRINGDALE, AR - The Northwest Arkansas Naturals will open up the gates for complimentary admission for game two of today's twin-bill against the Arkansas Travelers, but will solicit a suggested donation that will go 100% to the Red Cross as they aid the city of Joplin and other areas of Southwest Missouri with relief in the aftermath of a catastrophic tornado that whipped through the city yesterday evening.
Game two of the twinbill is expected to get underway at approximately 1:30. Seating will be all general admission for the contest, and the Naturals will set up dropoff points at the main entrance for fans to make donations to the relief effort.
"While Joplin doesn't have their own Texas League team, the city sits squarely between Northwest Arkansas, Tulsa, and Springfield, and we meet fans all the time coming down to see us from Joplin," said Naturals' General Manager Eric Edelstein. "Our hearts go out to them during this tragic time, and we want to do whatever might be possible to lend a hand."
The Northwest Arkansas Naturals are the Double-A Texas League affiliate of the Kansas City Royals and play at state-of-the-art Arvest Ballpark, located in Springdale. Visit our website, nwanaturals.com, for information on season tickets and ticket plans.
