Naturals Fall in Series Finale, 9-2

FRISCO, Texas -- The Northwest Arkansas Naturals (31-51/6-6) dropped the series finale to the Frisco RoughRiders (45-35/5-6) on Monday afternoon by a final of 9-2. The Naturals ended the road trip through Texas with a 3-3 record, overall.

Naturals centerfielder Lane Adams continued to shred Frisco pitching putting together his team-leading 24th multi-hit game of the season with a pair of doubles. Adams, named Texas League Offensive Player of the Week, has an extra base hit in five straight games. He finished the series against the RoughRiders hitting 6-for-12 with two home runs, two doubles and a triple with eight runs batted in.

The offense for the Naturals came in the top of the fourth inning off Frisco starter RHP Jerad Eickhoff (6-5, 4.15). Jorge Bonifacio drew a lead-off walk and was plated from third base after two batters by Mark Threlkeld's first triple of the season. The next batter, Micah Gibbs, doubled to score Threlkeld to cut the deficit at the time to 5-2.

RHP Jason Adam (2-8. 5.87) took the loss tossing just four innings. He allowed seven runs on 10 hits and struck out five in the decision.

The Texas League has a league-wide off-day on Tuesday, July 1. Northwest Arkansas will begin a six-game homestand on Wednesday, July 2 against the Midland RockHounds. Neither team has announced starters for the series. Visit nwanaturals.com for more information.
