
Naturals fall in game two of double header

San Antonio, TX- The Northwest Arkansas Naturals who dropped the first game of a double header earlier tonight 2-1,looked to rebound against the San Antonio Missions in the second game. Unfortunately for the Naturals, the Missions shut Northwest Arkansas down before Mitch Canham became the hero in a 4-0 win for San Antonio.
The game was scoreless all the way till the bottom of the fifth when the Missions broke the game open. With one out, a miscue by the Naturals Johnny Giavotella gave the Missions their first base runner of the inning. Jesus Lopez then singled which put two men on base with just the one out before Brad Chalk loaded the bases with a base hit of his own. With the bases full Cedric Hunter hit into a groundout where Kellen Kulbacki was out at home. The bases remained loaded with two outs when Canham blasted a grand slam over the right field wall. The shot put the Missions out front 4-0.
The Naturals never got their offense going as they managed just four hits. Those hits came from the top of the order with Clint Robinson accounting for two hits.
Edgar Osuna (1-1) started the game for the Naturals, but suffered the loss. Osuna went four and two thirds innings where he struck out four, but gave up four unearned runs.
Jeremy Hefner (1-0) picked up the victory for the Missions. Hefner pitched five innings, struck out four, and did not allow a run.
The Naturals (4-4) will try to avoid the sweep as they close out their series with the Missions (5-3) Saturday night. Saturday's game begins at 7:05 p.m. After tomorrow nights game the Naturals will head to Corpus Christi for a three game set with the Hooks.
