Naturals Drop Game Two, 4-1 in Tulsa
August 7, 2015 - Texas League (TL1)
Northwest Arkansas Naturals News Release
TULSA, Okla. - The game was billed as a pitcher's duel with the Royals' No. 3 *Kyle Zimmer (2-1, 2.16) *against the Dodgers No. 2 prospect left-hander *Julio Urias (2-4, 3.16)*; but some early miscues allowed for the Drillers to score four runs in the first three innings in the 4-1 loss at ONEOK Field on Friday night.
Zimmer worked 4.2 innings maxing out his threshold of pitches in just his second start of the season. The La Jolla, Calif. native allowed one earned run on eight hits with three punch outs in the loss.
Northwest Arkansas (55-56/15-26) took an early 1-0 lead off Urias in the first inning with *Alex Liddi *singling up the middle to plate *Raul Mondesi *from second base; but that would be all the Naturals would get off the 18-year old southpaw. Urias worked 5.0 innings allowed one run on eight hits with the Naturals threatening against the Tulsa starter all night long.
Right-hander *Benino Pruneda *came on to get the final out in the fifth inning and worked a perfect sixth frame while left-hander *Daniel Stumpf *faced the minimum in his 2.0 innings of work.
The Naturals bullpen has allowed four earned runs in 25.2 innings of work through the first seven games of the month of August to boast a 1.40 in the preliminary weeks of the month.
Tulsa (50-61/20-22) plated two unearned runs in the first inning, scored on a bases-loaded walk in the second and one more unearned run in the third. Northwest Arkansas committed three errors on the night.
Left-hander *Jonathan Dziedzic (7-6, 3.45) *will toe the slab for game three on Saturday night against the Drillers with right-hander *Ross Stripling (2-3, 4.54) *to counter for the home team.
Dziedzic has allowed just four earned runs over his last 22.0 innings of work for a 1.64 ERA while holding the Texas League to a paltry 0.197 (16-for-81) batting average as he hunts for his team-leading eighth win of the season.
