Frisco RoughRiders News Release
FRISCO, TEXAS (AUGUST 7, 2015) - Texas Rangers pitcher Derek Holland is expected to make a rehab start for the Frisco RoughRiders on Sunday at Dr Pepper Ballpark against the San Antonio Missions. The Rangers placed Holland on the 60-day disabled list on April 11 with a subscapular strain in his right shoulder.
Sunday's game against the Missions will begin at 6:05 p.m. and tickets are available at the Dr Pepper Ballpark box office by calling 972-731-9200, e-mailing Info@RidersBaseball.com or via www.ridersbaseball.com. Holland's start on Sunday will come one day after the first 2,000 fans take home his free bobblehead giveaway on Saturday, August 8th.
Holland, 28, left the Rangers' home opening game against the Astros, his first outing of the season, after one inning due to his injury. The former RoughRider has made two rehab starts for Triple-A Round Rock this season and allowed four runs, three earned, on five hits over 3.2 innings. He threw 55 pitches on Tuesday, August 4 against Memphis and touched 95 mph with his fastball.
The left-hander made two rehab starts with Frisco in 2014. He allowed no runs and struck out eight in five innings of work. In 2008, Holland allowed two earned runs across four starts in 26 innings (0.69 ERA) and posted 29 strikeouts with the Riders. He earned a Texas League Pitcher of the Week award for the dominant performance.
In his major league career, Holland is 51-39 with a 4.24 ERA in 148 games, all with the Rangers.
