Woodbridge, Va. - Brandon Jones went 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs and two RBI while Matt Harrison pitched a four-hit gem over eight innings to earn his seventh win of the season as the Nationals fell for the third game in a row to the Pelicans, this time 5-1 in front of a season-high crowd of 4,189 at Pfitzner Stadium.

The game, which moved at rapid pace that had some wondering if the sun would still be visible during the post-game fireworks show, saw Myrtle Beach strike first blood in the fourth when Jones connected four his fourth of the season to make it 1-0.

The Pelicans doubled that lead two innings later on an RBI double by Mark Jurich. Myrtle Beach would then blow it open two innings later as Jones delivered an RBI single and Jurich a two-run double.

Rog Bernadina stepped to the plate in the eighth inning and drove a 1-0 pitch over the right field wall four his fourth home run of the season and to break the Nationals scoreless streak which had seen the team go 19 innings without a run.

Harrison kept the Nationals at bay all night only getting into trouble once in the second when the Nationals were able to put runners at first and second with one out. Harrison got Marcos Yepez to strike out looking and Robert Rodriguez to ground into an inning-ending fielder's choice. Tony Blanco looked to have an extra base hit taken away from him in the fourth when he hit a smash to centerfield, but Carl Loadenthal made a leaping catch in front of the wall to keep Blanco from a possible second hit in the game.

The series finale comes up Sunday afternoon at 1:05 p.m. with Hispanic Community Day presented by Todos Supermarket, Fronteras Newspaper, Miller Lite and El Zol 99.1-FM. Pedro Biaggi en la Mañana will be in attendance as will the VERB Yellowball Tour.
