The K-Tribes magic number is now down to nine, as the Indian's put Frederick under their spell again in route to a 9-3 victory Saturday night at Harry Grove Stadium. Kinston has now won eight of their nine meetings this season with the Keys, including winning all six of their match ups at Harry Grove Stadium.
Chuck Lofgren was dominant again, winning his league leading ninth game of the season. Lofgren (9-2) went 5.1 innings, giving up three hits and no earned runs, while striking out four. Lofgren is now 6-1 in his last seven starts.
The K-Tribe came out swinging, scoring three runs in second inning off the bat of Micah Schilling. Schilling's first homer of the year, a three run shot of Frederick ace Radhames Liz, put the Tribe up 3-0.
Up 5-1 in the seventh inning, the Tribe put the game away, when Brandon Pinckney and Schilling put together back to back RBI hits. Argenis Reyes added an RBI sac fly, scoring Schilling and the K-Tribe lead 8-1. Wyatt Toregas added his fourth home run of the year in the eighth inning and Kinston won their 38th game of the season.
Earlier in the evening, the K-Tribe completed last nights game that was postponed because of storms, winning 12-10. Picked up in the bottom of the seventh with the score tied 7-7, a back and forth battle was decided by a Jordan Brown two run homer, with two out in the top of the ninth breaking a 10-10 tie.
The K-Tribe will go for the four game sweep tomorrow at 2PM in Frederick, with Mariano Gomez taking the hill for Kinston.
