WOODBRIDGE, VA (JUNE 2, 2010) - Potomac's offense exploded for a pair of early four-run innings and ran away with a 12-4 win over the Dash on Wednesday night at Pfitzner Stadium. The Nationals took the rubber game of the three-game series as the Dash finished its road trip with a 3-6 mark.

The P-Nats (24-29) scored four in the first inning off Nate Jones, who had his worst outing of the season. Dan Lyons had an RBI double on a bunt that Jon Gilmore elected to let roll down the third base line. The ball stayed fair and Steve Lombardozzi scored from second base. Later in the inning, Mike Burgess hit two-run double and Bill Rhinehart added an RBI single to put Potomac up 4-0.

Winston-Salem (34-19) scored two in the second on RBI base hits by Justin Greene and Eduardo Escobar to halve the Nationals lead. Logan Johnson tied the game an inning later with a two-run home run, his first of the season.

Jones was handed a clean slate as the game was tied heading into the bottom of the third inning, but the right-hander's outing continued to go south. After Tyler Moore reached on an error, two more P-Nats singled to load the bases with one out. Chris Curran brought home one run on a single to snap the tie. Jones (4-2) walked in a run and gave up a two-run single to Derek Norris as the Nationals re-built their four-run lead to go ahead 8-4.

Potomac picked up two more runs on a Moore solo home run and another bases loaded walk from new Dash pitcher Leroy Hunt. Winston relievers gave up single runs in the sixth and seventh innings to account for the final score.

Nationals reliever Clayton Dill (3-4) earned the win with 2.1 scoreless innings of work. Jones suffered his first loss since April 9 and his second of the season, allowing eight runs (five earned) on 11 hits in 2.2 innings.

Johnson was the lone bright spot for the Dash. He went 4 for 4 with a home run, two RBI, and two runs scored.

Despite losing all three series on its road trip, Winston-Salem remains four games ahead of the Salem Red Sox for first place in the Southern Division. Salem lost 4-3 to Lynchburg, reducing Winston's magic number to 14 to clinch a first half playoff spot.

The Dash returns home for the first time in ten days when it hosts the Kinston Indians in the first of a four-game series on Thursday night at BB&T Ballpark. LHP Charlie Leesman (6-1, 4.89) goes for what would be his league-leading seventh win of the season against RHP Marty Popham (0-0, 0.90). First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. and the audio pre-game show begins at 6:45 on www.wsdash.com.
