Potomac Nationals News Release

TODAY:

It's taken 35 games, but the Potomac Nationals will finally get their first look at the Cleveland Indians Carolina League Affiliate when they begin a four-game series against the Kinston Indians from historic Grainger Stadium. The P-Nats might be catching the K-Tribe at the right time as the Indians have dropped their last six games and now find themselves in third place in the Southern Division. Even after their recent struggles, Kinston still leads the entire Carolina League in both team team hitting (.283) and team pitching (3.82).

The defending Mills Cup Champions went 13-7 last year against Kinston with the offense hitting at a .294 clip against the K-Tribe. Notable offensive contributions were made by returning P-Nats Brian Peacock (.304-1-10), Dan Lyons (.333-0-3, 3 2B) and Michael Burgess (4-for-8, 3 HR, 7 RBI). Potomac's staff tabulated an ERA of 3.86 in the 20 games while the Indians allowed 125 ER in 172.2 IP (6.52 ERA) during the 2008 season series.

Today's Probables Potomac RHP Will Atwood (0-4, 9.23) vs. Kinston LHP Russell Young (0-2, 7.98)
