Winston-Salem Dash News Release

Winston-Salem, NC - Edgar Osuna was stellar on the mound in leading Myrtle Beach past Winston-Salem 4-1 on Monday night at Wake Forest Baseball Park. Osuna (3-3) tossed seven innings and limited the Dash to one run on three hits. He did not walk a batter and struck out four to collect his third win of the season.

Myrtle Beach grabbed a 2-0 lead off Dash starting pitcher Daniel Hudson in the third inning. Jon Mark Owings slapped a solo home run and Robert Marcial added an RBI double that scored Chad Lundahl.

Winston-Salem finally put a run on the board in the bottom of the sixth inning when catcher Adam Ricks led off with a double and scored on a two-out single by shortstop Greg Paiml that trimmed the Dash deficit in half.

The Pelicans added a pair of runs in the eighth inning sparked by a Dash error. Owings and Matt Kennelly singled to start the inning which put runners on the corners. After Chad Lundahl struck out, Cole Miles laid down a suicide bunt that rolled back to the mound and scored Owings from third. Hudson's throw to first ended up in right field, which allowed Kennelly to come all the way around from first base to give Myrtle Beach a 4-2 lead.

Pelicans reliever Benino Pruneda worked a perfect eighth inning and closer Cory Gearrin retired the side in order in the ninth to record his seventh save of the season. Hudson (1-1) suffered the loss after surrendering four runs (two earned) on five hits with eight strikeouts in a season-high eight innings.

The Dash will continue their seven-game home stand on Tuesday night with game two of this four-game series against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans at 7 p.m. at Wake Forest Baseball Park. Winston-Salem will start RHP Anthony Carter (2-3, 5.87), while Myrtle Beach is expected to turn to LHP Jeffrey Locke (1-2, 3.97).

Single-game tickets are also available for games at Wake Forest Baseball Park through June 17 and can be purchased online at www.wsdash.com or by calling the Dash office at (336) 714-2287.
