WASHINGTON, DC- The Washington Nationals have announced that former Potomac Nationals left-hander Ross Detwiler will get the call to make his first career Major League start Monday night when the team takes on the Pirates from Nationals Park in Washington DC.

First pitch for the game is 7:05 ET.

Detwiler had been pitching for the Nationals' Double-A affiliate Harrisburg Senators where he had gone 0-3 with a 2.96 ERA. After a sluggish start, Detwiler had improved considerably giving up only two earned runs in his last 15 innings pitched. He has struck out 28 in 27 1/3 innings this season.

His last start came Monday when he went five innings, giving up only one run while striking out nine in Harrisburg's 5-0 loss to Altoona.

Detwiler, a first round pick of the Nationals in 2007, starred for the P-Nats in 2008 making 26 starts and going 8-8 with a 4.86 ERA. He saved his best performance for the P-Nats' playoff run which culminated in the team's first Carolina League championship since 1989.

The southpaw outdueled Wilmington hurler Everett Teaford in deciding game three of last year's Division Series with the Blue Rocks, earning the win in the P-Nats' 1-0 victory.

He also started game three of the Mills Cup between the P-Nats and Pelicans, striking out nine in 4 2/3 innings in an eventual 8-7 Potomac victory.

You can catch all the action on MASN with the pregame show starting at 6:30 ET.
