From the Notes
Missing Martini: First Baseman/Outfielder Nick Martini had his contract selected by Oakland this afternoon and will be on a Major League active roster for the first time in his career tonight when the Athletics play the Rangers. Martini was on a career-best 12-game hitting streak and career-long 43-game on-base streak after a single in his final at-bat last night. The hitting streak was the third-longest active streak in the PCL while the on-base streak was the longest active streak in all of Minor League Baseball.
Against the Pacific Conference: Since becoming Oakland's Triple-A affiliate in 2015, the Sounds have had success against the Pacific Conference. After last night's loss, the Sounds are 59-40 against the Pacific Conference since 2015. They are 7-6 against the Aces during that timeframe. Their best records are against Las Vegas (11-1) and Sacramento (10-2). The Sounds go to Las Vegas in July and host Sacramento in August.
GarcÃa Goes for 13: Outfielder Anthony GarcÃa has reached safely in 12 consecutive games dating back to May 23. In that timeframe, he's hitting .300 (12-for-40) with 5 runs scored, 4 RBI, 1 home run, 1 triple and 8 walks. It's tied for the fifth-longest on-base streak by a Sounds player this year behind Nick Martini (43 games), Beau Taylor (17), GarcÃa (15), Josh Phegley (13) and BJ Boyd (12). GarcÃa's 15-game on-base streak was April 22-May 10.
Rare Loss: Last night's loss represented Nashville's fifth setback when out-hitting the opponent. The Sounds are now 16-5 when out-hitting the opponent compared to 12-23 when tying or being out-hit.
