September 7, 2009 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release
Nashville scored five times in the seventh inning to rally past the New Orleans Zephyrs 8-3 on Monday in the 2009 season finale.
The Sounds rallied against Zephyrs reliever Willie Collazo (9-5), who was making his first appearance in more than a month after a stint on the disabled list with an oblique injury. Joe Koshansky's three-run homer with one out in the seventh broke a 3-3 tie, and Mat Gamel later added an insurance run on a double.
The rally spoiled John Koronka's chance at ending a winless streak that extended to June 18, a stretch of 13 starts. Koronka scattered eight hits in six innings, with three strikeouts and one walk.
Mike Burns went the distance for Nashville, allowing 10 hits. Burns (8-3) struck out eight and needed just 98 pitches, 81 of which were thrown for strikes.
Jai Miller hit a two-run homer in the fifth for the Zephyrs, finishing the year with 16.
The loss was the Zephyrs' 80th of the season, making them the third New Orleans squad to drop 80 games in a season.
