Salt Lake Bees News Release
Salt Lake couldn't hold off Nashville as the Sounds completed a four-run comeback to defeat the Bees 11-8 in 11 innings.
The Bees started the game with a 4-run first inning. Nashville scored three in the fifth to close the gap to 5-4 before Dustin Ackley blasted a solo-shot in fifth and added another RBI single in the seventh to put the lead at 7-4. In the top of the ninth, Brett Vertigan of Nashville hit a three-run double to tie the game at 7 and forced extra innings. Neither team scored in the 10th but Nashville scored four in the 11th to fight off Salt Lake 11-8. Ackley finished 3-for-5 with three RBI. Jabari Blash, Jose Miguel Fernandez, Joe Hudson, Taylor Ward and Jared Walsh had two hits each.
Jeremy Rhoades highlighted Salt Lake's pitching with 2.0 shutout innings and struck out two batters and continued his remarkable post All-Star game play. Since the break, Rhoades, who played in the All-Star Game, has not allowed a run in 10.0 straight innings with 10 strikeouts. Tyler Stevens (0-3) earned the loss. The Bees finish with a 13-13 record in July with 12 wins coming after the All-Star break.
Salt Lake will take Tuesday off before traveling to Iowa to take on the Cubs for a three-game series. Afterwards, the Bees will head to Omaha to face the Storm Chasers for a four-game set. Following the road trip, they'll return home on August 9th to host the Tacoma Rainiers. Tickets are available at slbees.com.
