Wheeling Nailers News Release

WHEELING, WV - The Wheeling Nailers, the proud AA affiliate of the Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins, have added even more scoring punch to their lineup with the announcement that they have signed right wing Thomas Beauregard.

This will be Beauregard's third season in the ECHL after spending the last two as one of the top scorers for the Cincinnati Cyclones.

The Montreal, Que. native was only 21 years old when he led Cincinnati with 31 regular season goals in his rookie season of 2007-08. That team went on to win the Kelly Cup Championship. Last year Beauregard knocked home 15 more in 25 games with the Cyclones in a season that also saw him spend time in the AHL.

Beauregard's most amazing numbers came the season before he turned pro in 2006-07 when he led the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with 71 goals in just 69 games while also adding 53 assists for a monster 124 point campaign with Acadie-Bathurst Titan. He was a runaway winner for the league's scoring crown outpacing the next closest finisher by 17 goals. His season included five hat tricks and 20 multi-goal games as well as a 19 game point scoring streak from November through January as he went on to be a first team QMJHL selection. His 154 career goals is an all-time Titan's record.

A couple other famous players to put up awesome goal numbers in the Quebec League include Sidney Crosby who scored 66 goals in 2004-05 with Rimouski and Mario Lemieux who scored an amazing 133 goals in 70 games in 1983-84 with Laval.
