Wheeling Nailers News Release
WHEELING, WV- The Wheeling Nailers, proud ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Montreal Canadiens, have nine home games remaining in the 2012-13 regular season, and they want you to be a part of the fun! After their eight-game road trip concludes, the Nailers will return to WesBanco Arena on Friday, March 1st, hoping to build on their 17-6-4 record on home ice.
The month of March begins with back-to-back games against the division rival Trenton Titans, whom Wheeling has defeated in four of five meetings thus far. Friday, March 1st's 7:00 game will be an "Out of this World Experience," as Darth Vader and Storm Troopers will visit the Ohio Valley for Star Wars Night. The first 1,000 fans will receive a light saber, and the game will also be a Frosty Friday, along with Faith and Family Night. The evening will conclude with a post-game concert, performed by the C3 Worship Band of Wheeling, and featuring guest speaker, Ted Dodd.
The Nailers and Titans will clash again on Saturday, March 2nd at 7:00, on Children's Miracle Network Night. Fans are invited to help support the West Virginia University Children's Hospital, as the team will be wearing special jerseys, which will be auctioned off after the game, with all of the proceeds going to the WVU Children's Hospital. The first 2,500 fans in attendance will also receive a team poster, courtesy of RED and W.A.H.A.
On Sunday, March 3rd at 2:00, the Kalamazoo Wings make the first of two visits to Wheeling, and fans can receive a great offer on tickets, thanks to the Family Four Pack Offer. Four tickets, hats, hot dogs, and sodas are just $64, and fans will also be able to skate with the team on the ice, following the game, for the final time this season. The Nailers will also be recognizing local police and fire on "Guns 'N Hoses Day," which will begin with Wheeling Fire and Police facing off against Pittsburgh Fire and Police at 11:00 A.M. All proceeds from that game will go to Wheeling Winter Freeze Shelter.
The four-game home stand will conclude on Wednesday, March 6th, with a 7:00 game against the Elmira Jackals. That night will be a WesBanco Wednesday, allowing fans to get two dollars off of the price of their game ticket, with their WesBanco debit card, credit card, or check book present at the time of the purchase.
After three games on the road, the hometown team will return to Wheeling on Friday, March 15th at 7:00, when the Nailers will celebrate St. Baldrick's Day against the Toledo Walleye. Fans can shave their heads, with the proceeds going to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. The Nailers issue a special invitation to their female fans to join them that evening for "Hockey 'N Heels Night," which will feature Hockey 101 prior to the game, as well as an opportunity to purchase suite tickets (50 available), with food and drink specials.
The following week will feature one home game on Wednesday, March 20th at 7:00 against Kalamazoo. While being a second WesBanco Wednesday game, the Nailers will also be welcoming West Liberty University to WesBanco Arena for their own special night, with alumni, faculty, and students.
Finally, the last week of the regular season will begin on Wednesday, March 27th at 7:00 against Elmira. That game will be the third WesBanco Wednesday game of the month, while also being the final Season Ticket Holder Redemption Night of the year. Season ticket holders can exchange any unused tickets from the 2012-13 season, for tickets to that evening's contest.
Two nights later, the Nailers will collide with Toledo on "Relay at the Rink Night." As part of that promotion, former Ohio State Buckeye, NFL wide receiver and current ESPN analyst Joey Galloway will be in attendance, signing autographs. Also, Friday, March 29th's 7:00 face-off will feature a post-game jersey auction, with proceeds benefiting Relay for Life. In addition, that evening will be the final Frosty Friday of the regular season, allowing fans to take advantage of drink specials through the end of the first intermission.
On Saturday, March 30th, the regular season concludes with one final visit from Trenton. Trading cards will be given away to the first 2,500 fans in attendance courtesy of CORE and OVMC, while the Nailers will also welcome the Washington Wild Things' fans for their own special night at the game. The regular season finale will also be CORE Night, presented by OVMC.
