Aberdeen Wings News Release
The Aberdeen Wings, proud members of the North American Hockey League are pleased to announce that the date for the 2015 NAHL Draft has been scheduled for June 9th, 1pm Central.
Amateur players less than 21 years old (as of Dec. 31, 2015) who are not protected by an NAHL team either by roster spot or tender contract are eligible. Most NAHL teams have an idea who they are approaching, mainly based on year-round scouting, numerous phone calls, and of course the Aberdeen Wings Pre-Draft Evaluation Camp. At the camp in May, unsigned players have the opportunity to impress the Wings' scouting and coaching staffs.
On June 9th, all NAHL teams will select similar to other drafts. A draft order will be established and teams who are competing for a particular player will trade up the draft board. Depending upon how many returning players are on an NAHL team's protected roster, plus their tendered players is totalled and then subtracted from 30. FOR EXAMPLE: If an NAHL team has 15 players protected/returning and they have 8 signed tenders, that equals 23. Which means that NAHL team would have 7 draft picks.
