Mystics Acquire Crystal Smith

Washington, D.C. -The Washington Mystics have acquired point guard Crystal Smith General Manager Linda Hargrove announced today. The team added Smith by claiming her off waivers. She spent the 2007 season as the Houston Comets starting point guard where she averaged 6.3 points per game and 2.7 assists per game.

Smith was drafted by the Phoenix Mercury in 2006 and was in the Minnesota Lynx's training camp at the beginning of the 2008 season. She will join the team at a later date as she recovers from a foot injury. Lindsay Taylor was waived to make room for Smith.

Washington will host the club's home opener on Sunday, May 25th, against the four-time WNBA Champion Houston Comets at 4:00 p.m. The team will also launch its block party, sponsored by Under Armour, prior to the game from 12:00 - 3:00 p.m. on F Street.
