
Chicago Sky to Play Home Opener Tomorrow

WHAT: The WNBA Chicago Sky (0-1) plays its first home game of the 2008 season against the Sacramento Monarchs (1-1) on Thursday, May 22 at 7 p.m. at UIC Pavilion. With a dynamic, young team that includes top draft pick Sylvia Fowles, 2007 WNBA Rookie of the Year Armintie Price and two-time WNBA All-Star Candice Dupree, the Sky's third season in Chicago is sure to be an exciting one. The Sky's home opener will be broadcast on ME-TV (Channel 23), NBA-TV and WVON 1690 AM.
Fans are encouraged to come early for the pre-game entertainment, featuring a performance by the Soul Children of Chicago, returning for the second year to sing the national anthem and perform at halftime. The choir has performed in Italy, Holland, Sweden, Switzerland and Israel and won the prestigious Stellar Award. Fans will also be treated to performances by the McDonalds Fly Kids, the new Sky Dunk Team, the Sky Breakin' Crew and the Discover Card Sky Drumline, and all fans in attendance will receive a free light stick, courtesy of presenting sponsor ComEd. UIC Pavilion has a new LED ribbon and video board, so for the first time in three seasons, fans will be able to see replays of great plays and fun videos of Sky players in action on and off the court.
Players and Head Coach Steven Key will be available to speak with the media after morning shoot-around, which ends at 11 a.m., and during pre-game warm-ups from 5:30 to 6 p.m. Fans can find ticket information at www.chicagosky.net.

The Sky is one of seven independently-owned teams in the WNBA, the world's longest-running women's professional sports league.
