Winnipeg Goldeyes News Release
WINNIPEG - Winnipeg Goldeyes manager Rick Forney announced today the baseball club has traded the playing rights of infielder Brian Myrow to the Grand Prairie AirHogs in exchange for the playing rights of pitcher Craig James.
James, 28, saw action in just two games for the AirHogs last season, pitching two innings with a 4.50 ERA. He also played two games for Chico in the North American League and didn`t allow an earned run through three innings. A product of Miami, Florida, James reached Double-A in the Seattle Mariners system in 2007 and 2008. He also played in the Northern League in 2009 for the Schaumburg Flyers where he was 2-1 with a 2.25 ERA in 14 appearances out of the bullpen, including seven saves.
Myrow, 35, leaves Winnipeg for the second time as one of the more notable Goldeyes players in the team`s 18-season history. After coming to Winnipeg in 1999 as a rookie out of Louisiana Tech, Myrow`s contract was purchased by the New York Yankees in 2001 and reached the Major Leagues with Los Angeles Dodgers in 2005. He returned to Winnipeg last season and hit .319 with 11 home runs and 70 RBI in playing all 100 games. This trade grants Myrow his desire to play close to his family in Saginaw, Texas.
While the Goldeyes now hold James' playing rights, he still needs to be signed to a contract for the 2012 season.
Fans looking to purchase season tickets and nine-game mini packs for the 2012 season can call the Goldeyes office at 982-BASE (2273) or visit the Shaw Park box office.
