Grand Prairie AirHogs News Release
GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas -- For the second time this offseason, the Grand Prairie AirHogs lost a starter from their championship-winning team to a Major League organization, as catcher Chris McMurray was picked up by the Colorado Rockies organization, the club announced Monday.
McMurray joined the AirHogs in mid-June and contributed with excellent defense, finishing third among American Association catchers with at least 50 attempts in caught stealing percentage - nailing 25.7 percent of would-be base-stealers.
He was not shabby with the bat either, hitting .265 with four home runs and 32 RBIs in 59 games with Grand Prairie.
After being selected in the 18th round of the 2008 draft by Cincinnati, the 25-year-old spent three-and-a-half seasons with the Reds organization, reaching as high as double-A before joining the AirHogs.

The Mission Viejo, Calif., native will attend Spring Training in Scottsdale, Ariz., and his American Association contract rights will revert to the AirHogs if he does not make a club out of Spring Training.
In another move Monday, the AirHogs announced the acquisition of veteran slugger Brian Myrow from the Winnipeg Goldeyes, in exchange for righty pitcher Craig James.
Myrow hit .319 for the Goldeyes in 2011, helping them to the North Division championship. Healso hit 11 home runs and drove in 70 runs, along with earning 80 walks, good for third in the league.
A former Major Leaguer, Myrow appeared in 52 games for the Dodgers and Padres in the 2005, 2007 and 2008 seasons. Born in Fort Worth and now living in Saginaw, Texas, the 35-year-old lefthanded hitter began his pro career in 1999 with Winnipeg, then of the Northern League.
He was in affiliated ball from 2001-2010 before rejoining the Goldeyes last season, and holds a career .301 batting average with 133 home runs and 683 RBIs in 1,160 games.
James appeared in two games late in the 2011 season for Grand Prairie.
The 2011 American Association Champion Grand Prairie AirHogs begin the defense of their title on Thursday, May 17, against the Laredo Lemurs at 7:30 p.m. The 2012 home opener is Monday, May 21, at 7:05 p.m. against the El Paso Diablos.
